I'll tell you what kills me about it! I came up with this idea about 10 years ago; a computer that just needed DOS and a browser, so it would run great with minimal hardware.
The reason you never heard of my system? No marketing budget.
Theoretically, though, it's a perfect system for a regular user. No real risk of virus or spyware infection, and no need for continuous upgrades make it sound great. But for a child, he's inevitably going to want to play games on it, so you're going to run in to that bottleneck before long.

Does anyone have or know about one of these Cromebooks that uses Google browser-as-operating-system? I looking at getting something cheap for my 5 year old.
